"Vincent will be the champion for strong public schools that we have sorely needed. I'm excited about him being our next governor."

Today, I’m proud to announce that my campaign for governor has gained the support of education leaders from around the state.
For too long, South Carolina has been “playing defense” when it comes to the public schools attended by 90% of our children.
Our community schools and devoted educators have been undermined and relentlessly attacked by out-of-state interests who would shutter our public schools altogether in the name of a privatization agenda. Public education opponents have portrayed a false choice between “the status quo” and abandoning public schools through voucher schemes. But you and I know there is another, better path: one that improves our public schools so that every South Carolina child has access to the best education possible.
As governor, I will make improving public education a top priority and an indispensible component of my plan to aggressively recruit quality jobs to our state.
I will restore leadership to the governor’s office to enact common-sense, proven reforms such as smaller classes and higher teacher pay. I will champion the equitable funding of education for every part of our state. And I will make sure that every student in South Carolina — including my own three boys, who learn at the same public schools I attended – are taught by educators who are allowed to teach without fixating on standardized tests.
In short, I will do what it takes to make South Carolina’s public schools the best in the country, because that is the only way to reach our common goal of prosperity. Please join me, and the education leaders below, to help make it happen.
"Vincent's insight, integrity, and passion for public service are just what we need to lead South Carolina into the future!"
